Upgrading the AllStar Clubhouse

Tax refunds are nice.
Ariel's birth has given us extra on our return this year. So we're sprucing up our pad.
Here's what we've done so far:
Kitchen
Before After
Needed new light fixtures since the day we moved in, now four years later, we're finally getting it done. Pretty, huh?

Bathroom
Before
Not at the top of the priority list, but definitely overdue for a change. Eric opted for something a little more masculine, hence all the manly red. I think it's a nice makeover. Adds a lot of energy.
After

Next on the list: Microwave range. We have the appliance sitting in our living room. Just have to figure out the wiring.

Daddy Duty

I've been getting a little antsy lately with the disaster zone that we dare to call the nursery. I've been looking for a dresser, as Shortstop will no doubt be the best dressed baby in Colorado . . . perhaps even the entire US. After months of hunting down this particular piece of furniture, I finally struck gold.

Sears Essentials had a changing table with 3 large drawers for $60. I know, you saying $60, that seems a little pricey. Oh contrare, my friend. It was on sale for $60, its original price was $150! Score one for the Greene Team.

So we brought the monster home and Daddy-to-be Eric volunteered to do his manly duty and put it together. Since I single handedly resurrected the hand-me-down crib, I think he was trying to compete with me. Anyway, even with Pazu's help, it took the poor guy over 3 hours to slay the beast, but it's beautiful and I can't wait to fill it with any and all things baby.

Don't I have the greatest husband ever?

Yard Work

After we came back from the reservoir, Eric and I tackled our side yard. we've been having a problem with weeds and un-wanted tree sprouts, so we decided to dig up the existing landscape fabric and replace it. Here is a picture sequence of how things went.
These are the before pictures. Looks pretty bad, huh?
We dug up the old mulch, the weeds and trimmed back as much of the tree sprouts as we could. What an ordeal. This process definitely took the most amount of time.
We leveled out the dirt area and laid down new landscape fabric.
We'll have pics of the finished project on Friday because we underestimated the amount of mulch we needed. Friday is pay day so we'll be buying more. So far, this project has taken us about four hours.
And here is the final result. We could probably use a few more bags of mulch, but it's good enough for now. Please ignore the tree sheddings. Ahhhh, the power of teamwork!
