Flying High

This weekend, I worked on the first of many nursery projects.

Eric brought home a nursery projects book. Inside was a hot air balloon.

Using a paper Chinese lantern, ribbon, a small wicker basket, a lightweight teddy bear and some really hot glue, I created a darling, yet practical accessory to Shortstop's room and it only took an about an hour. Now all I need to do is install a light fixture and this balloon is going to rock!

After I initially made the balloon, the fact that the basket was crooked drove me up the wall. So I added more colored ribbon and fixed the symmetry. I feel less irritated now. Yeah! Hopefully I haven't made the strings too long. Eric might get a little irked it he smacks his head on it in the middle of the night.

Our nursery theme is "Boyd's Bears" in yellow and green with accents of pink. Next on the project agenda is curtains and an enclosure wrap for the changing table.
