The resultsof the PLACE test: General Science, as it pertains to Mrs. Greene, indicates that she

Has NOT Passed the exam.

That's just the kind of news I want to hear on a beautiful day. I needed 220 to pass and only managed to sweak out 178. And I really thought I did well, considering. Clearly, this shows you how much I know. I know even less when it comes to science.

I guess its time for a re-evaluation of job searching and future goals.

My Humps: The 6 Week Update

Okay, so it's been 6 weeks since I embarked on my road to healthy living and weight loss. And at my 6 week benchmark, the results are disappointing.

I am down 3 pounds. I have also lost 3 and 3/4 inches ONLY off my arms and thighs. Nothing was lost in the areas where I really need to lose something (bust, waist and hips).

I'm totally bummed. I've been working pretty diligently at getting to the gym everyday and watching my food and 3 pounds is all I have to show? I've revamped my cardio and weight training so hopefully the next 6 weeks will be yield bigger results. Hopefully.

Stepping out in Spring

As a belated Easter gift, I sewed a cute spring outfit for our god-daughter, Ysabella. I made it from McCall's pattern 2213. Frogs in pink and green. She looked so cute in it, but of course, I left the camera at home. Here are some stills. Enjoy!

A testing test

Today I took the PLACE exam. It's a test you need to pass in order to obtain a teaching license. It basically is validation that you are competent enough to teach this subject area. I took the test for general science, as I want to teach secondary science. I studied 3 weeks for this waste of time.

75% of what I studied was NOT on the test. Did you hear me? I got asked stupid questions about nuclear fusion. On what planet is this practical? Some questions were so easy, I don't know why they bothered to write them and others were so obscure and ridiculous, guessing was the best answer. The whole time I was taking the test, I wanted to scream because I was so pissed off.

Overall, I think I did well. If I don't pass, I will have missed it by the slimmest of margins. Wish me luck. Results will be posted April 28th.

Happy Birthday Eric

Happy Birthday, Eric! My honey turned the big 28 today and to celebrate, he took the day off of work and did a birthday triathlon. Yes, he's crazy. He had to swim 2 miles, bike 28 miles, and run 8 miles. He finished just under 3.5 hours. He did a great job.
Later, his family came over and we went to McCabe's Irish Pub where we filled our bellies with way too many calories (oh well). We came back to the house for presents and cake. He received cash, a heart rate monitor, workout clothes, tri stuff and gift cards. He made out like a bandit. Eric had a great day and was happy to spend it with the fam.

Temporary Insanity and the Frankenstein Cake

So, this little ditty deserves its own entry. For Eric's birthday, I made him a strawberry cream cake, courtesy of America's Test Kitchen. We actually watched the episode on TV and wanted to make it. However, I felt that the TV version looked a bit small, so I doubled the recipe when I made. What a mistake. After I started stacking layers, my beautiful cake was mutating to a Frankenstein wanna be. Six total layers of frosting, strawberries and filling. What have I done?!

Believe me, it tasted unbelievable, but its next role should be in a horror flick. It could do battle with Mothra.

I received my official "Dear Jane" letter today. I'm kinda bummed I wasn't selected, but when God closes one door, he opens another (or a window, depending on what you grew up hearing). So there are a few science teacher positions that opened up with Douglas County (my 1st choice) and I found an Anatomy/Physiology instructor position for Concorde Career College. Hopefully one of this avenues will lead me straight to a wonderful career path. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

I will be accepting hugs, lovely emails, and ice cream for consolation.
